Salary:Based on ExperiencePosition OverviewThe Charter School of Educational Excellence's School Psychologist will work collaboratively with school leadership, students, parents, teachers, and school support staff to help our students achieve the highest degree of academic, emotional, and behavioral success. The psychologist hold all students to high expectations, support the needs of a diverse student population, and determine appropriate strategies and interventions that will allow students to academically excel.Responsibilities & duties (including, but not limited to) Effectively collaborate with colleagues and parents to support social/emotional needs of students;Conducting and writing psycho-educational evaluations, including cognitive and academic achievement testing. The School Psychologist must be trained in administering and interpreting psychological evaluations;Have experience with a variety of psycho-educational and behavioral toolsWrite IEP goals and complete progress notes in a timely mannerPerform classroom observationsHave background in counseling and crisis managementProvide high-quality counseling sessions for scholars with IEPs and at-risk scholars;Collaborate and provide support to classroom teachers in areas related to student diagnosis, psychological profiles, cognitive issues, and behavioral interventions;Creating, implementing, and tracking behavior intervention plans for students with behavioral needs;Leading crisis management for scholars in need of this support; andEngage and/or lead Pupil Personnel meetings for designated grades;Run student social skills groups where warranted;Engage in the school-based support team to ensure student progress through the right supports and interventions. Student Support & School Culture -Assess educational outcomes and their instructional implications for individuals or groups using achievement or mastery tests, student portfolios, performance-based assessment, and curriculum-based measures.Collect data on individual students, classrooms, and programs to design effective interventions using research-based strategies to enhance service delivery and to evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions.Assess aspects of the classroom and school environments that contribute to or detract from the social, emotional and academic development of students Socialization and Development of Life CompetenciesDesign and implement individual, classroom and school-wide programs in social skills, social problem solving, conflict resolution, decision making, mindfulness, growth mindset, and life skills.Design and implement approaches to classroom management and student discipline, positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), ecological intervention and enhancement of classroom climate.Provide individual and group counselling to help students whose behavior impacts them socially, emotionally and/or academically.Help design and participate in student support teams, coordinated school-based PBIS teams, Safe School Climate committees, SEL committees, and other efforts dedicated to improving school climate and service to students. Prevention, Wellness Promotion, and Crisis InterventionHelp design and implement prevention programs including the school's comprehensive social/ emotional learning program.Design programs to prevent and intervene in situations involving serious academic, behavioral or emotional difficultiesDesign and implement procedures to support students, school staff members, and families in times of crisis.Other tasks as assigned by the PrincipalAcademic & certification qualificationsMaster's degree in PsychologyNYS Teacher School Psychologist certification3+ years' experience as a PsychologistWork experience & skillsA passion for the mission of the Charter School of Educational ExcellenceStrong organizational skills; extremely careful attention to detail and follow-through.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and negotiating skills.Ability to work well in a team.Exceptional ability to bridge and enhance cooperative working relationships.Ability to create, monitor, and maintain systems that enhance organizational efficiency.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; flexible, able to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations regarding Special Education and English Language Learner serviceCompensationA competitive compensation package including base salary and complete benefits is available.Applying & selection processAfter submitting your cover letter, and resume, CSEE will review your documents.
