The School Psychologist will be responsible for the diagnose and treatment of learning and behavior • Experience in a Unified school district or comparable experience in working successfully with a range of student grade levels. Demonstrated knowledge of standard practices in the area of school disorders; conduct individual and/or group counseling that addresses the needs of diverse racial socio economics, linguistics and cultural population; chair IEP teams and develop and oversee implementation of effective educational plans and intervention strategies based upon diagnostic evaluation; organize psychological services within the school community; foster relationship with students that encourages open communication and attainment of objectives; explain functions, services and procedures clearly to students, parents, teachers, administrators and the community; collaborate with regular and special education team members including sharing of knowledge and skills, carrying out assigned tasks, supporting contributions of others, and providing leadership in problem situations where appropriate; design and carry out diagnostic studies of individual pupils.
School Psychologist will report and interpret test results and other student data. Prescribe remediation or treatment; identify and use educational resources and agencies which provide support and expertise for education of regular and exceptional students; foster a school climate that addresses the individual needs of students in a multi-cultural setting; recognize and respond to the impact of common psycho-social pressure on students; understand appropriate assessment procedures and counseling methods for linguistically diverse individuals and families and use appropriate techniques to address multi-cultural issues; work for effective integration of all students into school and community settings. Qualifications Certification as a School Psychologist • Preferably possess expertise in Applied Behavioral Science. • Demonstrated knowledge of assessment standards and methods of assessing student performance. • Able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and show leadership in group settings.
Able to instill confidence and to be trusted by others. • Able to communicate clearly and effectively. Salary Appropriate placement on the AADUSD School Psychologist salary scale. Reports to:
Director of Special Education Performance Responsibilities: • Fulfill obligations and duties related to the role of psychologist at the school site. 114 • Assist with Individualized Education Plan meetings, student assessment and intervention as needed. • Demonstrates initiative when interpreting situations requiring the assistance of the psychologist and when interacting with parents, guardians and staff.. • Oversees all testing and assessment activities relative to the unique needs of individual students Essential Job Functions: • Visual ability to read handwritten or typed documents, and the display screen of various office equipment and machines. • Able to operate office machines and equipment in a safe and effective manner • Able to demonstrate manual dexterity necessary to operate a calculator, typewriter and/ or keyboard. • Able to Conduct verbal conversation. • Able to hear normal range verbal conversation (approximately 60 decibels). • Able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend and walk. • Able to sit for sustained periods of time. • Able to climb slopes, stairs, steps, ramps and ladders. • Able to lift up to 25 pounds. • Able to carry up to 25 pounds. • Able to exhibit full range of motion for: o Shoulder external rotation and internal rotation o Shoulder abduction and adduction o Elbow flexion and extension o Shoulder extension and flexion o Back lateral flexion o Hip flexion and extension o Knee flexion Term of Employment: Work Year : _____ days Salary: Appropriate Placement on Psychologist Salary Scale
