RSU5 is looking for a dynamic School Psychologist to conduct and interpret the results of psycho-educational assessments for students referred to special education services and assist in the development of an appropriate educational program based on the results of assessment. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of child growth and development; theory and research on conditions that affect learning and behavior; tests and measurement theory and foundations; multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both academic and behavior; and community resources and services available for student assistance.
The successful candidate will:
Evaluate students and formulate their academic and functional profiles through standardized assessments, skilled observations, histories, and interviews.
Conduct behavioral observations and interviews.
Consult with teachers, school personnel, and other relevant personal to obtain information regarding students, pertaining to personal history, school and home experiences, motivation, learning styles and school adjustment.
Review all pertinent information regarding a referred student, including such information as the cumulative record, previous testing, guidance records, social worker records, teacher's academic and behavioral data and the reason for the referral.
Select, administer, score, and interpret appropriate tests related to student performance.
Interpret assessment result and compile comprehensive psychological evaluation reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations.
Communicate evaluation results and student profiles to teachers to assist in providing effective programming for students.
Participate in the eligibility process and contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans, and 504 Plans.
Serve as a resource to teachers and staff regarding academic and psychological needs of students.
Assist school teams in developing and implementing a multi-tiered instructional service delivery model for all students.
Conduct informal and formal observations of students as part of a multi-tiered instructional service delivery model for all students.
Assist school teams in developing and implementing effective services to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.
Provide information, support, and consultation to parents/guardians of students.
Provide in-service training and workshops for teachers and staff related to special education requirements and specific disabilities.
Requirements:
Must hold a valid CHRC from Maine Dept. of Education.
Position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
