ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Simulation Center Coordinator will:

Possess the knowledge and understanding of a simulation framework, organizational skills, teaching ability, creativity, competence in negotiation, computer and simulation technology, excellent personal communication skills and the professionalism and grace to serve as a role model for students. Facilitate simulation scenarios and other laboratory experiences based on the national and professional simulation standards to support the curriculum and program learning outcomes for online and residential students and faculty in the SON programs. Assist in daily operations, ordering of supplies - consumables and non-consumables, maintenance, and set-up of equipment/simulation scenarios and skill stations for all APRN nursing simulation labs. Assist with student remediation and other lab duties as assigned. Promote OSHA compliance within all departmental labs and for all students, faculty, and staff. Maintain medical waste disposal with contracted medical waste groups. Assists in teaching of all hospital software documentation and medication dispensing systems to all undergraduate nursing students. Assists with American Heart Association classes, certification, and equipment at Liberty University. Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks. Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for supervising the Simulation Technicians, the Simulation Center Student Workers, and the Simulation Center Volunteers as a shared responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing

  • Current and unencumbered Virginia nursing license with at least two years nursing experience.

  • Strong organizational skills, teaching ability, creativity, competence in negotiation, basic computer proficiency, excellent communication skills, and the professionalism and grace to serve.

  • Current certification in American Heart Association CPR BLS for Healthcare Provider with AED.

  • Preferred

  • Five years nursing experience

  • Prior experience in clinical simulation and certification as a Certified Simulation Healthcare Educator (CHSE).

  • Current certification and instructor status with the in American Heart Association CPR Heart Code, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and STABLE.

  • Experienced in B-Line Sim Capture.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. (If not administrative duties, such as labor, define general physical abilities.

  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.

  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.

  • Regularly lift 40 or fewer pounds.

Work Environment

  • The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate.
