TThe Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology in The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine is accepting applications for a Pediatric Neuropsychologist to join our team of two neuropsychologists in the growing Hematology and Oncology Neuropsychology Program.

The primary responsibilities are directed toward both acute and long-term neuropsychological care of children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer and blood disorders.

Consults and neuropsychological evaluations for the Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Histiocytosis (LLH), Sickle Cell Disease, and Bone Marrow Transplant programs will be the primary focus of this position. The neuropsychologist will work closely with two full-time psychometrists as well as experienced school liaisons in the School Transition and Re-entry (STAR) service. Neuropsychologists within the division also work closely with pediatric psychologists and the interdisciplinary psychosocial support team in the Hope and Cope Psychosocial Education Program.

This faculty position includes opportunities for program development and education, including teaching and supervision of psychology graduate students and interns through UAB's APA-accredited training programs. Research is encouraged, with opportunities to collaborate with neuropsychologists, psychologists, and other providers, including oncologists, neurosurgeons, and radiation oncologists with an interest in neuropsychological outcomes, academic skill development, school reintegration, and quality of life.

Our neuropsychologists are passionate about providing evidence-based, comprehensive services to patients and their families. The individual who fills this role will join a collaborative team helping patients and families understand the cognitive and learning challenges associated with their medical condition and treatments, prepare for school reintegration, receive academic supports and accommodations, navigate functional changes, and transition to adulthood.

Candidates should possess a PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and must have completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology with a specific focus in pediatrics. Candidates should be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in the state of Alabama. Preference will be given to candidates having related experience with pediatric hematology and oncology populations and those who are board certified or board eligible through the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP-CN).
