The Department of Pediatrics and Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a BC/BE PEM physician to join our division. Families come from all over the state and surrounding states to seek care in the only free-standing children's hospital in Alabama.
Our ED volume in 2018 was over 73,000 of which 13% were admitted. Our ED moved to a new facility in 2012 and has 53 rooms including 4 major resuscitation rooms and a 4-bed unit specialized for the care of psychiatric patients. Our fellowship program has been active for 35 years currently training 3 fellows per year.
Faculty are encouraged and supported to pursue work in education, advocacy, quality improvement and/or research. Scholarly activity is expected but is broadly defined.
Academic rank and salary offered are commensurate with experience and achievement. We are looking for an excellent clinician and energetic team-minded faculty member to educate trainees, develop programs, and add to the academic environment. A clinical promotion pathway is also available and a nocturnist shift differential is an option for those interested.
