The School of Art & Design at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) occasionally needs to hire Part-Time Lecturers (multiple subject areas) to start Fall 2024 and/or Spring 2025 to teach in its Bachelor's/Master's program in the Edinburg/Brownsville campuses. Responsibilities include delivering quality instruction in the program, advising students, and participating in scholarship activities serving the college, university, or local communities as needed.

UTRGV faculty are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the missions of the university, college, and program. Teaching assignments include Art Education, Art History, Art Appreciation Drawing/Painting Graphic Design, Printmaking, Foundation, Jewelry, and Sculpture. Candidates will be expected to have teaching experience and expertise in more than one area.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualifications to be considered as a one-year appointment in 2-D & 3-D Studio are 18 graduate credits in the specific subject area and a Master's of Fine Arts degree. The qualifications to be considered for a one-year appointment in Art History and Art Education are 18 graduate credit hours in the specific subject area and an M.A or Ph.D. in a related field of study from an accredited institution.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

One-year lecturers hired to teach Art Appreciation will be required to attend a training workshop in August (one day) on the use of Blackboard and common online text. Inability to attend training may result in the cancellation of assignment.

Preferred Qualification

Teaching experience is desirable, as well as the ability to use technology to support teaching and learning. Lecturers must be willing to do assessment measures to contribute to data on assessment. Preference is given to applicants who are willing to teach at both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses.

Salary One-Year Lecturers are paid a 9-month academic rate commensurate with experience and/or qualification in the discipline. License or Certification Required? No Number of Vacancies Multiple Desired Start Date 09/01/2024
