PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Health & Wellness Coordinator serves as a catalyst for creating a healthier, more informed, and supportive campus environment through the development of the District Wellness plan based on SCCPSS policy and industry best practice to be implemented at all elementary, middle, and high schools.

Serves as a liaison between the SNP and the District Wellness Center. The Health & Wellness Coordinator serves as liaison to local wellness groups; provides training for school activities to promote wellness; and participates in the budgeting, estimating, and planning of those projects/operations under the Health & Wellness Coordinator's charge. The coordinator collaborates with assigned staff; evaluates professional development needs; promotes continuous improvement; and attends to the day-to-day administration and personnel needs of the 'Smart Snack" Kiosk Program.

The Health & Wellness Coordinator ensures that all fundraising activities at the school level adhere to 'Smart Snack' regulations & requirements; providing training for Principals, administrators, and teachers to ensure compliance. REPORTS TO: Executive Director School Nutrition SALARY SCHEDULE:

Teacher WORK DAYS:229 REQUIREMENTS: Education Level: Bachelor's degree in nutrition, dietetics, consumer science or a related field.

Experience developing and leading projects and facilitating teams. Previous experience implementing school or community health programs or health promotion a plus. Preferred: Master's degree preferred.

Registered Dietician (R.D.) and/or Licensed Dietician (L.D.) Experience with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point [HACCP] food safety program. Experience, Skill, and Certification: Three (3) years management experience in food service operations in food service operations in a public-school setting; or as a manager of a large restaurant operation; or as an administrative dietician in a large hospital or similar facility.

Eligible for Georgia Professional Standards Commission School Nutrition Director (P-12) BS or S Certification, minimum Level 4 at date of hire; must obtain a clear renewable School Nutrition Director (P-12) Certificate, Level 5 within 3 years from date of employment OR Eligible for Induction Certificate in the field of School Nutrition Director (GaPSC Rule 505-2-.04)Pass or exempt the Program Admission assessment. Be accepted into GaPSC-approved School Nutrition Director Certification preparation program or, If no program is available, receive a GaPSC evaluation of prescribed School Nutrition Director certification course work. Completion of GaDoe required O.N.E. (Orientation for Nutrition Employees) within 90 days of hire.

Completion of GaDoe Manager Pathways and Culinary Pathways within one year of hire. Valid ServSafe Manager Certification issued by the National restaurant Association or ability to obtain certification within the first 90 days of hire. Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, or the availability to get to off-site meetings.

Organizational and department planning and operational procedures. Knowledge of SCCPSS policies and procedures Able to forecast manpower and facilities needs. Is current on all relevant available public and private resources and services.

Can identify and monitor departments expenditures and disbursements. Has knowledge of all applicable Federal, state, and local nutrition regulations and local and state health requirements. A thorough understanding & working knowledge of all safety regulations, food specifications, Federal & State Wellness regulations, and School Wellness programs.

Can coordinate and collaborate with federal state and local organizations and departments to establish and execute responsibilities. Can demonstrate administration and management skills gained through increasingly responsible management positions. Builds relational trust through empathy, commitment, compassion, patience, positivity.

Can demonstrate effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication. Can prepare concise periodic and annual reports for not-for-profit entities. Can demonstrate quantitative financial analysis; budgeting; organization skills.

Has proven expertise in public relations and customer service. Has proven leadership and management of School Wellness programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Develops the District Wellness plan based on SCCPSS policy and industry best practices. Provides technical consultation in the development of Local School Wellness plans. Implements the wellness policy, including evaluation, with schools, staff, and departments.

Contributes to the Monthly SNP Newsletter authoring a Nutrition & Wellness column. Monitors all School Fundraising Activities to ensure compliance with federal/state competitive foods requirements. Conducts formal training for Principals and Administrators.

Generates wellness communications for online and printed materials. Serves as liaison to local wellness groups and provides training for school activities to promote health and wellness. In concert with the Farm to School Specialist, develops and maintains up to date training manuals for all procedures.

Designs and conducts staff training for the Farm to School program and local school wellness plans. Monitors, measures, and conducts staff training for all District-Wide Smart Snack Maintains SCCPSS employee training records for District Wellness training session. Attends meetings and conferences as needed.

Assists with onsite reviews. Performs Annual and Triennial Site-Level Assessments; provides assessment documentation and reports on the progress of District school wellness goals. Works across and within all Teams within the SNP.

Performs other duties as assigned by SNP Executive Director TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Incumbents will be considered "at will." Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience. This position is considered to be "essential personnel, critical staff" when there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations. This position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in Policy Regulation GBRB-R, Title:

Professional Personnel Time Schedules. The work calendar will be 229 days.
