PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Farm to School Specialist will work with county and district staff to implement programs that support schools in providing fresh, locally sourced foods in school meal programs while also facilitating projects and activities that enable students to learn about local agriculture and healthy eating.

Provides program support for all PreK-8 schools. REPORTS TO: Executive Director School Nutrition SALARY SCHEDULE:

PS-4 WORK DAYS: 229 REQUIREMENTS: Educational Level: Bachelor's degree required; in lieu of the bachelor's degree a combination of experience and education may be used to meet the bachelor's degree requirement.

Preferred: Master's Degree. Knowledge of successful Farm to School coordination and programming a plus. Experience, Skill and Certification:

Completion of GaDoe required O.N.E. (Orientation for Nutrition Employees), Manager Pathways, and Culinary Pathways; Valid ServSafe Food Manager Certification. Valid driver's license and availability of private transportation, or the availability to get to off-site meetings. Minimum 5 years of related experience required.

Preferred: Supervisory experience in a large public school setting a plus. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Serves as a resource for school nutrition professionals, teachers and administrators on local procurement and integration of agriculture and community food systems education.

Builds collaborative relationships with the school district/charter schools, farmers, and community partners. Understands laws related to local procurement and organic waste. Helps the District navigate and comply with state and federal regulations.

Represents SCCPSS at regional and statewide Farm to School networks. Identifies funding sources for ongoing support of Farm to School efforts. Co-plans and facilitates school nutrition networking meetings (including virtual and in-person meetings). Develop, plan, and provide appropriate training for SNP associates.

Work with the Marketing Manager on plans to implement marketing, outreach, and events to strengthen farmer-buyer relationships. Engage community partners and strategically leverage partnerships to improve program impact. Participate in strategic planning and fundraising as needed.

Manage online communications and outreach. Work with the District Marketing Team to keep program information and materials updated on the SCCPSS website. Apply for grants, track progress and prepare narrative reports.

Promote Farm to School events, such as cafeteria tastings and farm field trips. Develop Farm to School educational materials for the K-12 setting, such as Farmer Profiles, Farm Videos, and School Garden resources. Develop program evaluation methods and surveys, analyze data, and prepare statistical reports.

Attend program related meetings and conferences as needed. Implements the philosophy, policies, and regulations of all Child Nutrition Programs Assists the SNP Executive Director in planning, developing, and implementing the school nutrition program according to federal. State, and local guidelines.

Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with local farmers and vendors. Performs other duties as assigned by the SNP Executive Director Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Organizational and department planning and operational procedures. Budgeting and spending, labor issues and efficiencies Knowledge of SCCPSS policies and procedures Able to forecast manpower and site needs.

Integrates knowledge of inventory control, materials requirement and ordering processes Safety regulations: HAACP, FIFO Knowledge of food systems and sustainable agriculture. Knowledge of USDA and GaDoE regulations and guidelines as they pertain to local procurement.

Knowledge of Community, regional, state, and federal Farm to School resources Ability to research, design and make oral presentations to small and large groups. Ability to maintain meticulous records and manage program tracking. Ability to prepare information, statistical, and narrative reports.

Good knowledge of production process flow and scheduling Administration and management skills gained through increasingly responsible management positions. Ability to adapt to changing work demands; work effectively under varying degrees of stress; and manage task priorities to meet deadlines. Terms of Employment Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 229 days.

Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience.
