Applications are being accepted by the College Place School District for a School Nurse assigned to the secondary campus. POSITION & BENEFITS:

Job Title: School Nurse

Reports to: Health Services Supervisor or Designee

Bargaining Group: ESE

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position: 7 hours per day, 195 days per school year (10 months) Monday - Friday

Salary: $26.94-$30.75 per hour (educational incentive available in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreement as negotiated)

Anticipated Start Date: 08/16/2024

Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision, FSA/DCAP, Life/AD&D through SEBB (School Employee Bene?ts Board); and Retirement through DRS (Department of Retirement Systems) for eligible employees

Additional Benefits: Optional 403(b) retirement plan; Optional DCP (deferred compensation program) retirement plan

Leave: 9 sick days (pro-rated for mid-year hires), 10 paid holidays

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current valid license as a registered nurse in Washington state;

  • CPR/First Aid Certification;

  • Knowledge of technology

ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish is considered helpful. District tests to verify skill levels.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support student success by providing health care assessment, intervention, and case management services for students.

  • Promote student health by performing tasks as required, such as the regulation and dispensation of prescribed medicines.

  • Advocate for student health by providing counseling and guidance to pupils, school personnel and parents.

  • Provide accurate health data by maintaining student health records required by District policy and state regulation.

  • Support the student learning environment by development of Individual Health Plans (IHP) as needed and consulting Special Education teachers on Individual Education Plans (IEP) when health services are required.

  • Support health services District wide by providing consultant services to administrators in planning for the prevention and control of communicable diseases, first aid in acute illness or injury, disaster preparedness, and safety and sanitation.

  • Assure compliance by performing or coordinating vision, hearing, and scoliosis screening in accordance with the Washington State Codes.

  • Demonstrate the importance of safety by maintaining a safe and orderly working environment and following safe work practices.

  • Protect District by keeping information confidential.

  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed or requested.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:

  • Capable of lifting ~ 40lbs ~ 5% of the time, ~ 50% of the work day standing, reaching, bending, stooping, walking and ~ 45% of the time working from a sitting position;

  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.

  • This job is performed under temperature variations consistent with indoor and outdoor

  • This job may require interaction with students displaying aggression, non-compliance, and other conduct problems.
