Primary Job Function:
The Reynoldsburg City Schools' nurse is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating school health services. The school nurse facilitates positive student responses to normal development; promotes health and safety, including a healthy environment; intervenes with actual and potential health problems; provides case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity. In order to provide quality care and manage legal risks, school nurses should know the various national and state laws and standards that apply to their practice. School nurses also must know their role and function within the Reynoldsburg City School District and follow the school district's policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary functions may include the following duties, responsibilities, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. Comply with all federal, state, county, district, and school policies
Alert school administrators to health trends and problems
Manage first aid procedures for all students
Administer medications, including emergency medications
Implement nursing procedures for students with medical and orthopedic impairments
Conduct vision and hearing screenings in accordance with Ohio Department of Health guidelines
Implement and enforce communicable and nuisance disease policies
Review immunizations and health records as needed
Maintain recordkeeping and documentation for student health records
Provide crisis intervention for students/ staff in the event of sudden illness or injury
Promotes a healthy school environment through program development, communication, information management and reporting
Serves as a liaison among the school and parents, doctors, case managers, and other stakeholders in child health
Minimum Qualifications:
Registered Nurse
Experience working with children
OH RN license
Certification in CPR
Valid Pupil Services License through ODE
