We are seeking a passionate healthcare professional, who enjoys working in a student centered, learning environment. Our nurses are passionate about working with middle school students and are able to relate concepts to students' everyday lives. They implement a therapeutic, and preventative program for all students and plan and use appropriate strategies that reflect the needs of middle school aged students.

Position Objective:
This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality care through resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the standards, rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District.

Responsibilities:
Administers basic health care and First Aid for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children.
Assesses and evaluates the health and developmental status of students for the purpose of identifying physical disorders and other factors affecting the learning process.
Collaborates with parents, students, health care providers, and/or other agencies for the purpose of promoting needed treatment, securing information and complying with legal requirements.
Conducts programs and/or activities (e.g. in-service training, hearing, vision, color vision, immunization review, scoliosis screening, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with government mandated requirements.
Designs health maintenance plans for the purpose of addressing students' health needs and implementing health care directions from parents and/or physicians.
Maintains communication with parents and all involved community practitioners and agencies for the purpose of promoting needed treatment.
Maintains health care plans, medical emergency information, immunization records of all students for the purpose of ensuring compliance with state law and providing information required for transfer of records as needed.
Monitors all student medications administered at school as prescribed by a physician.
Refers students and families requiring further medical attention and provides appropriate community resources of necessary services and assuring continuity of health service and care.
Responds to medical emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Freetown-Lakeville students and staff will: practice responsible citizenship; respect self and others; accept responsibility; and work cooperatively.

Required Qualifications:
1.Massachusetts DESE license in Nursing (grades 5-8)
2.BA Degree

Preferred Qualifications:
1.Experience in the school setting
2.Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs
3.Candidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years). Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of employment.

Salary & Terms of Employment: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators' Association contract. Employment is contingent upon job performance, program needs, and funding.
