Reports to: Principal or designee

Please note that this position is 192 days with 5 paid holidays, paid sick leave and paid flexible personal leave (3 days per year). If hired after the start of the school year, days and leave are pro-rated. Job Summary:

To implement a primary health plan that will enable the district to meet legal requirements,

district policies and administrative regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

Assumes leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing the district's primary health program.

Keeps current on changes in ORS and OAR.

Facilitates health-related inservices.

Serves as a medical liaison to parents and community health providers.

Monitors infection control kits, health rooms, medicine dispensing procedures and other delegated duties at each building.

Serves as a resource person for school personnel.

Provides monthly reports to the Director of Student Services.

Attends building and community meetings as needed. Serves on district committees as needed.

Knows and understands all policies, regulations and procedures of the school and district.

Remains current in professional growth and inservice training.

Responsible for being familiar with the school/district policies and procedures which govern the work.

Prompt and regular attendance is required.

Other Job Functions:

Performs other tasks as assigned.

Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Participates in various meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one's skills/knowledge.

Essential Job Requirements

  • Qualifications:

Valid Oregon Nursing License.

Special preparation and/or experience as a school nurse.

Valid Oregon Driver's License.

Strong interpersonal skills in working with students, staff, parents, and community agencies.

Understanding of challenges facing the second language learner (bilingual Spanish/English skills desired but not required).

Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously as a team member.

Ability to plan, organize, and work without close supervision.

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District personnel and the public.

Maintains confidential information and the privacy of District staff, students, and families.

Carries out work responsibilities effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and new or emergency situations.

Ability to work with a diverse population.

Ability to respect confidential information.

Computer skills to include use of word processing programs, database programs and the Google Suite of products.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; and use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment varies but is usually moderate.

Terms of Employment: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy on evaluation of licensed staff.
