Non-Exempt Accountability Objectives Provides health services to strengthen and facilitate the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning in the individual students. Essential Duties Maintains, evaluates and interprets cumulative health data to accommodate the individual needs of students Consults and support school staff, parents, and students on student health issues Provides support in establishing system-wide health procedures and policies in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations under the supervision of the School Health Specialist Provides training and professional development regarding health-related issues for school staff members as needed Participates in the IEP plan development and needed Administers medication to students Assists the School Health Specialist with kindergarten registration, training, health fairs, student health screenings and other health-related events as needed Assists the School Health Specialist in providing appropriate staff training in universal precautions, medical conditions and delegated medical procedures for specific students Maintains records and reports for all students who have health-related conditions and provides assistance to students and/or parents as needed Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases Maintains a daily clinic log of student visits Ensures the use of proper forms, permission slips, and schedules for dispensing medication Assists the School Health Specialist in the annual review of immunization records Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator Minimum Qualifications Licensed Practical Nurse or Registerd Nurse Minimum of one year of experience in public health nursing, hospital, and/or related medical facility required. Experience in a school setting is preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Knowledge of the principles and practices underlying professional nursing Knowledge of the principles and practices underlying the special field of school health Knowledge of current trends in nursing and of literature in the fields of school health Knowledge of organization and administration of other cooperating agencies Knowledge of state and local laws relating to health and social issues Ability to participate cooperatively in a program of school health nursing Ability to exercise professional judgment in making decisions Ability to communicate appropriately, collaboratively, and effectively with students, parents, administrators, other school personnel, health care providers, and community agencies Ability to demonstrate a genuine interest in the student population and its health needs.

Ability to organize a health office and manage time Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel Thorough knowledge of the ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with personal characteristics of integrity, accountability, and dependability Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments Professional and positive attitude and demeanor Customer-focused and results drive Essential Physical Abilities While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time.
