Description

St. John Paul II Catholic High School is seeking the next member of its distinguished faculty. Currently, we are seeking a school librarian for the 2024-25 school year. The librarian leads the school's library program, and is responsible for:

  • collecting, organizing, and distributing reading materials for leisure and academic purposes;

  • maintaining the library website, online databases, and other digital resources;

  • overseeing the 1:1 Chromebook program, including troubleshooting, basic maintenance, facilitating repairs with the provider, and assisting with basic network upkeep;

  • Administering the Google for Education portal, including Google Classroom, GoGuardian, and Gmail, and;

  • is responsible for assigning and assisting with classroom technology for teachers (projectors, computers, etc.).

The school seeks to maintain a fully and authentically Catholic environment. Teacher candidates must be practicing Catholics.

EXPERIENCE WITH HIGH SCHOOL SCHOOL LIBRARIES IS HIGHLY PREFERRED; however, technology skills, experience, and proficiencies are required.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree in Library Science (or relevant degree area)

  • Candidates without a degree in library science are welcome to apply, if experience and skill sets match the needs of the position

  • Technology Proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and internet use for educational purposes)

Qualifications

  • Be an active Catholic, with a desire and ability to lead young people by example into a deeper communion with our faith, our Blessed Mother, and her Son, Jesus Christ
  • Have knowledge of both library science and educational technology, and the ability to engage and instruct students and teachers in these areas
  • Have the ability to manage a classroom along with student behavior
  • Promptly address student needs through interventions, including modifying instructional approaches
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers
  • Be a lifelong learner of his/her practice, and have an openness to self-reflect, receive, and implement feedback on improving their teaching skills.
