School Guidance Counselor, Maternity Leave Replacement, Manville High School for 2024-2025 School Year (August 29, 2024 - June 18, 2025)

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assist students in academic, career, and personal/social development

• Create and implement innovative counseling programs and intervention that address the needs of diverse student populations

• Collaborate with teachers and administrators to develop and implement initiatives that promote student achievement and well-being

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid New Jersey School Counselor Endorsement or eligibility

• Master's Degree

• Spanish speaking preferred.

• Provide crisis intervention services as needed.

• Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and stay current with best practices and trends in the field.

• Broad knowledge of testing and evaluation, theories of individual and group counseling techniques, secondary school counseling program design.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents, staff and community groups and organizations.

• Knowledge of college and career planning preferred.

• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.

• Encourages parental involvement in students' education.

• Assists students in making course and subject selections, as well as with evaluating career interests and choices.

• Assists in the scheduling of classes.

• Obtains and disseminates information regarding occupational opportunities to students and to classes studying occupations.

• Assists students with admissions, scholarship and identifying employment opportunities.
