Job Description:
The Newburg R-II School District is seeking a high school counselor to serve our 7th-12th grade students. Newburg operates on a 4 day school week with approximately 370 students in grades prek-12.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Missouri Counseling Certification/License
2.Teaching experience and/or counseling experience
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
JOB GOAL:
As a member of the district guidance staff, the high school counselor implements the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program for students in grades 7-12. The counselor provides activities to meet the needs of the students, consults with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students, and provides support to other elementary programs.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Guide individual student academic planning and goal setting for post graduation.
2.Provide short-term counseling/response services to students as needed and referrals for long-term support in collaboration with families, teachers, and administrators for student success.
3.Advocate for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings including data analysis to identify student issues, needs, and challenges while developing student success plans.
4.Act as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement and opportunities for all students
5.Evaluate and revise the building guidance program.
6.Pursue professional growth.
7.Implement the policies and procedures of the district.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board.
