The Role: Meadow Brook School seeks qualified candidates for a School Counselor position. Massachusetts Guidance Counselor or School Adjustment Counselor licensure is required.
Responsibilities include:
Create a welcoming and supportive environment that embraces diversity among individuals and ensures equitable opportunities for student learning and community membership
Consult and collaborate with collateral service providers in order to coordinate treatment planning and school based interventions
Identify and assist students at risk in their social, emotional, behavioral, and academic adjustment to school
Provide individual and group counseling services to students
Support students with conflict resolution
Implement whole class Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and anti-bullying lessons which support students in developing self-management, self-awareness, responsible decision making, relationship skills, and social awareness
Create effective, individualized behavior plans informed by thorough functional behavioral assessments
Attend crisis intervention and de-escalation training
Provide crisis intervention and support as needed
Serve as the liaison and facilitate supports for students returning to school from absences related to mental health or behavior, including but not limited to hospitalization or out of district placement
Coordinate the 504 process and develop effective 504 plans
Contribute to the development of IEPs and provide direct services to students as outlined in IEPs
Coordinate the ACT (Assisting Children and Teachers) process and facilitate ACT meetings
Provide support and consultation to teachers regarding social, emotional and behavioral needs of students
Assist with class placement
Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal
School counselors work 5 days before the school year begins and 5 days after the school year ends.
