School Counselor

Job Description:

POSITION: Director of School Counseling, Grades 7-12

START DATE: 2024/2025 School Year CLOSING DATE: Open until filled

DESCRIPTION: Northwestern Regional School District No. 7 is seeking a Director of School Counseling.

This person's role will include:

• section 504 coordinator;
• collaborate with staff to develop, coordinate, and deliver a comprehensive developmental guidance program
• managing a reduced school counseling caseload
• coordination and collaboration with the District Testing Coordinator in the administration of College Board testing
• assisting all students in the areas of academic, career, social/emotional development
• coordinating and providing individual and group counseling
• consulting and collaborating with teachers, staff, and parents
• planning, evaluating, and revising the school counseling program
• pursuing, planning and facilitating professional growth opportunities
• promoting an understanding and appreciation for diversity
• monitoring and advising students and parents regarding promotion and graduation
• preparing and planning student transition to the next level.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• School Counselor (068) certification

• Intermediate Administration or Supervision (092) certification

• Extensive knowledge of PowerSchool

• Extensive knowledge of Scheduling

• Extensive use of Naviance for testing and college application purposes

• Knowledge and implementation of comprehensive school counseling curriculum across 7-12

• Extensive knowledge of the 504 process

• Experience in the administration of the SBA, SAT, PSAT, AP assessment programs
