Job Summary

Job Summary

Damien High School seeks a School Counselor & College Advisor for the 2024-25 school year. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Providing individual and group counseling services to assigned students in the areas of general academic and college preparation, fulfillment of graduation requirements, personal growth, decision-making skills, and social/emotional development.

Monitoring the academic progress of students by assisting in educational planning, documenting progress toward graduation requirements, advising on schedule selection, identifying the need for academic intervention, and collaborating with school personnel and parents to facilitate student support. Assisting students in navigating the college search, application, and financial aid processes. Guiding first-generation college students and parents through the college application process.

Collaborating effectively with the school's administration, faculty, and staff in all aspects of the counseling process. The ideal candidate will: Possess a knowledge of and commitment to Catholic education.

Respond effectively to the needs of an ethnically diverse student body and partner with parents and guardians in support of students. Be knowledgeable of NCAA, UC, Cal State, and other university eligibility requirements. Have experience working with Naviance, Aeries, Common App, UC Application Portal, Cal State Apply.

Work within the ethical and legal guidelines set by the American School Counselor Association and NACAC. Possess excellent technical and written/verbal communication skills. Be able to attend additional evening meetings and professional development opportunities.

Master's Degree, preferably in school counseling, PPS Credential preferred. Proficiency in the use of technology as it relates to daily school operations, instruction, and communication.
