Job Summary

The School Counselor, under the general direction of the Principal, or designee, will perform a variety of duties in developing, planning, and implementing a comprehensive school counseling and guidance program that includes academic, career, personal/social development for students in grades 7th-12th. The School Counselor provides informational services to students and parents which will assist the student in making appropriate decisions relative to the student's academic and post-secondary plans, the student's relationship with teachers, and decisions outside of the school setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides for all students the opportunity of either individual or group counseling regarding student academic, social and career development. Provides all teachers and parents the opportunity for consultations regarding student academic and/or social behavior.

Provides information and advises students and parents on college selection and college entrance requirements and procedures. Advocates high academic achievement and social development of all students. Attends and participates in IEP, SST, and other required meetings and/or conferences.

Leads the RTI (Response to Intervention) Team meetings Leads 504 coordination Reinforces student behavior appropriate to the school environment by utilizing guidance techniques. Keeps and maintains school records and provides written references to appropriate agencies. Development and implementation of the master schedule.

Provides consultation, training, and staff development to teachers and parents regarding students' academic and/or social behavior. Continuously promotes positive relationships among students, teachers, parents and community. Performs other reasonable duties as assigned or required in fulfillment of District goals. Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master Degree in Education or enrolled in a program to earn a master's degree Valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential in School Counseling or enrolled in an approved program Previous experience in a secondary 7th

  • 12th grade setting, highly desirable Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
