River Rock Academy is seeking a qualified Counselor to work with students, their families, and outside agencies to help develop and implement goals for the students. This position may provide group and individual counseling to students in our AEDY (Alternative Education for Disruptive Youth) program. The candidate must hold one of the following credentials: certified school counselor, certified school psychologist, certified school social worker, licensed social worker, licensed clinical social worker, certified/licensed therapist, licensed psychologist or psychiatrist.

RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct individual and group counseling sessions in a positive, therapeutic manner. Prepares professionally written reports describing the student's progress in his/her behavioral, clinical, and academic goals. Conducts 45-day review meetings with the student, parent/guardian, and referring school district representative.

Coordinates transition services for students who have successfully completed their goals. Provides, as needed, crisis intervention services and problem-solving services to students. Actively assists with the PA State Assessment process (PSSA/Keystone testing). Maintain student confidentiality per agency policy.

FERPA/HIPAA privacy rule and regulation, and student/clinical staff confidentiality. QUALIFICATIONS The candidate must hold one of the following PA credentials: certified school counselor, certified school psychologist, certified school social worker, certified drug and alcohol counselor (as appropriate), licensed social worker, licensed clinical social worker, certified/licensed professional counselor (LPC, NCC), certified/licensed therapist, licensed psychologist or psychiatrist. Preferred for clinical position - Alternative Education for Disruptive Youth – Grades 6-12 Preferred for clinical position – Private Academic License – Grades 7-12 Candidate with a master’s degree and/or pursuing Licensure would be considered.

Candidate with a bachelor’s degree (preferred areas of undergraduate degree - social work, psychology, or education) would also be considered. Knowledge of counseling theory, ethics, and associated legal confidential requirements. Knowledge of human development and learning theories.

Knowledge of behavior modification techniques and strategies. Experience in providing individual and small group counseling and crisis intervention services to students in Middle School and High School. Prepare and maintain accurate professional records and reports related to students (i.e., goal development, periodic reviews, intake procedure, attendance, and graduation credit tracking) . Successful work experience with students in an educational, at-risk, alternative, or institutional setting.

Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships and function as a liaison with school districts, community agencies, and families.
