The Program Manager for School Counseling serves a critical role in the district's efforts to support counselors and improve students' readiness for college and career. The manager oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive counseling program for Seattle Schools including helping schools respond to the requirements of state law SB 5030. The manager works across central office teams to ensure policies and procedures, and training related to counseling align with the district's goals as well as district, federal and state requirements. The manager oversees district counseling staff, professional development for school counselors, school counselor tools, such as Naviance; provides information to administrators for hiring and evaluation support; creates district counseling reports. The counseling manager will oversee and/or support district projects such as the development and delivery of the High School and Beyond Plan, guidance on secondary course scheduling, and college/postsecondary advising.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Advocate for equity in programs, policies, and procedures related to counseling that have an impact on students.
Work collaboratively with the Budget Services, Grants Management, Human Capital Management, Legal, Procurement Services, and other departments as appropriate to ensure compliance.
Prepare board documents and reports as necessary.
Increase the quality and scope of the district's counseling program by staying current in best practices and pedagogy at the state and national level.
Provide oversight of public facing communication such as website, social media, in collaboration with Communications.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Five (5) years, preferably in school counseling; Master's Degree or Higher in School Counseling or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work will be considered.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
ESA in School Counseling or CTE Certification in Career Counseling.
