Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.

The Team Member we are searching for
The ideal School & College Counselor Assistant believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. The School & College Counselor Assistant will be involved in supporting the day-to-day college counseling functions that lead to accurate and successful college admission. The School & College Counselor Assistant will work closely with the school sites' administration team.
What you will need to accomplish:
Help support our early college model and student knowledge about options post high school
Co-facilitate workshops for students interested in taking community college classes
Check students grades who sign up for college courses and work with the students in college classes to insure they are attending tutoring if needed
Assist the School & College Counselor with SAT/ACT sign-ups along with assisting college readiness teachers with accurate information about college for ninth graders
Meet with students about college and current grade performance
Coordinate the PSAT
Hold a community college course enrollment orientation once a semester for all interested students
Meet with 9th and 10th-grade students to review graduation, university requirements, and next semester's schedule
Coordinate with 9th and 10th-grade Advisory teachers to deliver lessons
Coordinate a Parent Institute
Co-coordinate to schedule all grades
Co-proctor AP exams
Co-coordinate parent workshops
Collect unofficial community college transcripts from students on a semester basis and file a copy of the transcripts in the student's individual file
Team Member/Professional Development:
Attend UC and CSU counselor conferences annually to receive recent information on university admission requirements
Attend WACAC Conference and NACAC Conference
Attend all department meetings and functions
Culture & Values:
Communicates effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders (parents, students, staff, community)
Builds strong relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
Perform other duties as assigned

Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Must be flexible and team-oriented
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
