School-age Childcare Director (Van Asselt Community Center)

If you have experience in school-age childcare education programming and facility operations, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has a role for you as a School-age Childcare Director at Van Asselt Community Center.

ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. In this role, you'll provide leadership support for ARC's school-age childcare program at Van Asselt Community Center, offering a high-quality childcare experiences for children ages 5-12. The School-Age Childcare Director is responsible for creating and supporting a fun, safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for staff and participants. They establish and strengthen positive relationships with Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) staff, Seattle Public Schools (SPS) staff, parents, and participants.

Location: Van Asselt Community Center

School-Age Childcare Director duties and responsibilities include:

  • Creates an engaging social and emotional learning environment while providing a developmentally appropriate educational experience for children 5-12 years old.
  • The ability to understand and value the diversity within and across cultures and provide an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment where all children, youth and families can take pride in their cultural identities, beliefs, and practices.
  • Have supervisory, mentorship abilities and skills; responsible for hiring licensed school-age childcare staff
  • Demonstrated experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
  • DCYF and other administrative tasks as needed.

School-Age Childcare Director requirements include:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Has 45 college credits in 100-level or above college coursework as approved and verified in DCYF MERIT system and as specified in the Washington state guidelines 110-301-0100.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with school-age children.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience.
  • Must meet or obtain DCYF licensing requirements prior to working in the program

Schedule:

  • Monday Friday up to 40 hours per week, straight shift between 8:00am- 6:00pm
  • Schedule subject to change (i.e. split shift) due to program/season and business needs

Pay:

  • Starting Pay: $28.00/hr

Full Pay Range: $28.00-35.00/hr (the employee may earn up to $35.00/hr with additional years in the role)

The new hire signing bonus will be paid out in three (3) installments.

  • $200 after the successful completion of 30 days of employment
  • $200 after the successful completion of 60 days of employment
  • $200 after the successful completion of 90 days of employment
