School Adjustment Counselor/School Counselor - Granite Valley 2024-2025

The successful School Counselor/School Adjustment Counselor will:

Provide individual and group counseling services to support the academic progress planning and success, career awareness and social/emotional development of students in accordance with planned objectives for grade level
Design, deliver, evaluate and revise a planned sequential and developmentally appropriate school counseling curriculum to include lessons in academic success, career awareness and planning and personal/social growth and understanding
Interpret student data and their implications for educational and career planning and develop needed interventions
Consult with students, families, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the needs of students
Take a leadership role in the infusion of counseling content into the curriculum, staff development and family education programs
Assist in the transitions into and exiting at each building level
Refer students and their families, as needed, to appropriate specialists, special programs and/or outside agencies
Keep abreast of the latest research and practices in school counseling to determine what changes may need to be made in counseling services
Coordinate with school personnel in planning curricular, co-curricular and service activities that support the counseling program
Collect and analyze data to guide program direction and emphasis
Adhere to the values and ethics of professional educational support staff
Fully participate in both internal and external professional development opportunities
Participate on the school's STAT team and other committees as needed
Perform other duties as requested by the administration

Qualifications:
1.Master's degree in psychology, counseling or related field
2.Certified or pending certification by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education as a school counselor/school adjustment counselor
3.Ability to work effectively with administration, staff, students, families and community members
Primary Function: To provide a developmental, comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, career and social/emotional needs of all students.
