Summary:
The School Adjustment Counselor works to support a safe and welcoming learning environment for students.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling, guidance, social work, psychology or related field
Appropriate DESE licensure (School Adjustment Counselor)
At least three years of experience working with adolescents in a counseling capacity
Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues
Understanding of special education regulations and laws
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to use technology effectively
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with numerous stakeholders
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):
Help students resolve such personal, emotional, and social problems that impede learning.
Conduct social skill development groups, individual, or group counseling.
Provide case management and crisis intervention for students in need
Provide services to students as outlined in individual education plan (IEPs) or 504 plans
Collaborate with staff members on developing interventions for students in need
Support the development of programs and activities that promote student engagement and a positive school climate
Complete all required paperwork in accordance with district/school policies and federal and state law.
Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students
Responsible for implementing "other job related duties" as needed
