School Adjustment Counselor - ( '24-'25 School Year, 1 Year Position At Craneville Elementary & Wahconah High School)

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and skilled School Adjustment Counselor to join our educational team,working .5 at Craneville Elementary School and .5 at Wahconah Regional High School. The candidate will support the emotional, social, and academic well-being of students. As a School Adjustment Counselor, you will work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents/cargivers, and administrators to create positive and inclusive school enviroment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for pre-referral conferences with school personnel in a team context to determine the appropriate intervention for a student.
Responsible for cooperating and consulting as a team member with teachers, principals, and other school personnel for purposes of diagnosing, evaluating and recommending interventions for students.

Responsible for providing crisis intervention and conflict resolution services when requested by school personnel.

Responsible for serving as a referral agent for the student and parent(s) in developing a network of social services with community agencies.

Responsible for providing outreach and follow-up for students referred because of attendance problems.

Responsible for compiling, summarizing, maintaining, and submitting data or other student records when appropriate.

Responsible for being knowledgeable and conforming to state and system wide regulations and guidelines on student records.

Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Provide support in K-12.
Responsible for providing individual and group counseling K-12 students' social, emotional and behavioral needs.
Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the progress of students receiving services.
Responsible for working closely with teachers, parents/caregivers, and administrators to create a collaborative support network for students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be MA DESE certified or certifiable as a School Adjustment Counselor.
Appropriate MA licensing required.

Masters degree in social work, counseling or psychology.

A minimum of 3 years experience with K-12 school aged children in providing individual, group, and class SEL support counseling preferred.

Knowledge and skills to evaluate and diagnose children with behavioral, psychological and/or emotional issues

Skilled, trained and experienced in Crisis Intervention.

Knowledge of community resources.

Classroom teaching experience desirable.

Ability to understand the dynamics of families from various backgrounds.

Ability to produce concise reports concerning relevant developmental, social, and medical information.

REPORTS TO: Principals and Direct of Student Services

SALARY: In accordance teachers' contract.
