VIEW JOBS 1/12/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-12T00:00 Description: Under the direct supervision of the Health Center Manager (HCM) or Clinic Services Supervisor (CSS), the Medical Assistant (MA) works as part of a team to ensure efficient and quality patient care. Performs clerical duties as needed to support the team. It is the primary purpose of CHCCC to provide the highest quality of total care possible to the patient population it serves. Such a level of quality depends ultimately on the staff's desire and ability to work together, individually, and as a team. The employee is expected to be professional, punctual, maintain regular attendance, cooperative, organized, and enthusiastic at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * The majority of the Medical Assistant's time shall be spent with direct patient care. * Performs preliminary assessment and determines need for immunizations, lead screening, and other health maintenance recommendations. * Performs in-house CLIA Waived laboratory tests (urinalysis, pregnancy tests, strep, etc.) * Greets patients, escorts them to examination room, assists in monitoring patient waiting areas, including patient examination rooms in the event of an acute situation * Provides comfort and encouragement for patients. * Maintains clean and safe patient areas and follows safety procedures. * Assists in maintaining patients charts in a neat, accurate, and organized manner. * Acts as an interpreter when necessary between patient and provider. * Cleans instruments and prepares for sterilization. * Answers telephones to take messages and assist in patient needs. * Attends meetings and trainings are required. * Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care. * Demonstrates knowledge of domestic violence, child and dependent abuse protocols, and minor rights. * Demonstrates adherence to and observes all safety policies and procedures. * Maintains and adheres to HIPAA, confidentiality, and privileged communications (patient, employee, and corporation). * Other duties as assigned Education and Training: High School diploma or GED. Graduation from an accredited school in Medical Assisting. Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), preferred (if MA does not have CMA or RMA at time of hire, MA must become Certified or Registered within one year.) Possession of current, valid CPR (BLS-C) card. Possession of current unrestricted and valid California Drivers License (Class C). Community Health Centers Lompoc CA
