GENERAL SUMMARY
The Financial Aid Office at the Community College of Denver is looking for a dedicated, passionate, and responsible individual to join the Financial Aid Team.
The Scholarship Coordinator reports directly to the Assistant Director of Scholarships. This position assists with the coordination, administration, tracking and maintenance of foundation, institutional and private scholarship programs at CCD. Duties include ensuring that eligible students meet the scholarship program requirements and deadlines, scholarship distribution, critical analysis of scholarship delivery, donor relations, and outreach events as needed. They will serve as CCD's primary point of contact for the Displaced Aurarian Scholarship.
Additionally, this position serves in a student advising, outreach and client services capacity and involves a great deal of student interaction. This position is required to effectively communicate financial aid policies to students, parents, the College and community members and to maintain professionalism in dynamic situations. They participate in Tri-Institutional committees (with MSUD and UCD) to effectively support DREAMer students.
The Scholarship Coordinator serves as the primary source of communication with private scholarship providers. They are expected to reconcile private scholarships and process scholarship refunds as needed. In addition, they are responsible for keeping, maintaining and updating the scholarship materials including The private scholarship listing and scholarship webpage. They answer incoming emails to the scholarship inbox.
The Scholarship Coordinator provides scholarship presentations on campus and off campus to share relevant resources, scholarship updates, deadlines with our CCD staff, faculty and Community. They are in charge of developing communications for different scholarship opportunities. They create and coordinate Navigate campaigns to inform students about scholarship applications, missing requirements and upcoming deadlines.
Other duties include processing web updates; backing up the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for unaccompanied homeless youth; backing up the Colorado Application for State Financial Aid (CASFA) processor; and performing quality assurance checks on Verification.
The Scholarship Coordinator position is responsible for maintaining an expert knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies regarding all types of financial aid and scholarships (i.e., Pell Grant, Colorado Student Grant, Federal Direct Loans, etc.), and effectively communicating this information to student and parents. They will guide students through all aspects of the financial aid and scholarship process (i.e., application procedures, verification documentation, scholarship and grant requirements, federal and private loan conditions, Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements, etc.).
An in-depth understanding of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Colorado Application for State Financial Aid (CASFA) and federal tax documents is required. This position will serve as the back-up administrator for the CASFA process, which requires the ability to identify and resolve issues with conflicting information. They will also perform routing quality assurance checks on verification.
The Scholarship Coordinator's job duties can be broken down as follows:
Advising students
In person/phone/virtual/email contact
Inform students verbally and in writing of the status of their scholarship applications
Communicate with and assist students regarding scholarship opportunities
Interact with potential and existing scholarship recipients
Provide scholarship presentations
Advise unaccompanied homeless youth and independent minors through the financial aid process
Back up the SPOC
Scholarship processing
Coordinate scholarship applications for review by scholarship committees
Process Displaced Aurarian Scholarship applications and awards
Evaluate, analyze and propose changes to processes
Interact with potential and existing scholarship recipients
Participate in outreach events as needed, including presentations
Award and review scholarship recipients' eligibility and post awards to Banner as appropriate
Responsible for data entry to track scholarship awards
Post and renew scholarship awards to SCT Banner
Operational duties
Update website
Process private scholarship checks
Perform routine quality assurance checks on verification
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Associate's Degree (Direct financial aid experience may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis, and will not count towards the experience requirement below).
Experience:
2 years higher education experience or 3 years of customer service
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Must be available to work during peak periods based on job responsibilities and college calendars.
