Purpose
The Scheduling & Optimization Manager will support the business in the development and execution of a scheduling and optimization process that encompasses long-range strategic and short-term tactical goals through analysis and evaluation of data to align raw materials and manufacturing capacities with commercial opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the integration, implementation & utilization of scheduling software at manufacturing facilities across North America, including collaborating variable inputs such as BOMs, costs, & run rates.
Lead the development of an optimizer tool that optimizes raw materials, machine center capabilities & constraints, and market demand to drive enterprise profitability
Participate in the development of SIOP plans and ensure mill scheduling aligns
Manage scheduling strategy and metrics to measure on-site scheduler success
Facilitate coverage and succession planning for on-site schedulers
Work closely with the on-site schedulers on the development, preparation and maintenance of production schedules to guide the production and resources to achieve maximum efficiency and meet output & timeline objectives
Collaborate with Sales and Operations for variance management, strategy execution and assessments to incorporate materials, inventories, and resource availability, and delivery commitments to schedules
Assist in facilitating adjustments and coordinate production schedules to accommodate changes to client orders and/or changes in production capacity
Analyze and provide recommendations and insights on supply and demand constraints, potential risks and opportunity, and inventory optimization
Support development of tactical master scheduling strategies with particular attention to market opportunities, channel, and customer strategy
Prepare timely reports for distribution to internal customers; maintain accurate records and files.
Provide support and training to schedulers on software use
Perform other duties as necessary

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing IT, Supply Chain, Wood Science, Business, or related field; and 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, including manufacturing systems, manufacturing analytics, etc; or an equivalent amount of experience, education, and/or training.
Knowledge of manufacturing and continuous improvement processes
Experience with the following: ERP/MRP/CRM systems, data structuring, relational databases, data models, (Synchrono, Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, Anaplan, Tableau, etc), query development, defining new reports and tools, technical implementation, and project management
Ability to communicate and prioritize input from senior management, stakeholders, and other departments
Strong Excel skills
Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Understanding of the people, processes, technology issues within an enterprise level corporation and how business process impacts scheduling
Positive demeanor and the ability to lead and/or function within a team and work well with others at all levels of the organization
Ability to multi-task in a changing, fast-paced environment
Understand and exhibit a sense of urgency
Strong self-motivation and organizational skills
Ability to travel for meetings routinely
Preferred Qualifications
Manufacturing supervisory work experience
Experience in the forest products industry
