What You Will Do:

  • Scheduling Coordinator will handle all aspects of scheduling to include: OR Time with proper procedure listed. • Scheduling Coordinator are responsible for working rotating day, evening, and weekend hours. • Scheduling Coordinator will maintain employee calendars and schedule call sign ups as needed. • Scheduling Coordinator will be responsible for answering all scheduling calls from staff and offices. • Extensive medical terminology and ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding highly preferred. • Insurance knowledge highly preferred. • Able to use critical thinking skills to prioritize multiple tasks within a call center setting, and problem solve when call protocols are not available. • Maintains familiarity with all registration/patient access functions and processes. • Schedules outpatient/inpatient procedures in a timely manner, obtaining all required information including ordering physician, patient demographics, diagnoses, ordered test/procedure/treatment, requested date of procedure and insurance information (when appropriate) and coding of diagnosis and treatment. • Consistently reviews all information with callers prior to completing the calls. Communicates any preparatory or protocol information accurately. Make any necessary changes to patient or appointment data. Accurately documents all other information related to patient/department needs, including special information (i.e. wheelchair, translator, allergies) or physician instructions. • Accurately documents all other information related to patient/department needs, including special information (i.e. wheelchair, translator, allergies) physician instructions or urgent/unusual requests. • Maintains understanding of registration/patient access functions and tools in order to better serve all internal and external customers. • Performs outgoing calls to patient/offices regarding reschedules/cancels. Always documents reason and caller information. • Performs insurance authorization screening and insurance benefits checking as needed. • Performs preregistration functions as required either in conjunction with the scheduling flow or as a separate flow.

What You Will Bring:

Education

High School Diploma or GED

High School diploma or equivalent education with knowledge of standard office equipment required

Experience

Computer and word processing knowledge and experience required Two years of surgical care experience preferred

Qualifications

Above average organizational skills with attention to detail work required Strong skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and mathematical calculations required Ability to work in a stressful environment required Competent to successfully interact with physicians, offices and staff according to their special needs which may apply based on the age of the patient served
