Scheduler II is responsible for scheduling complex procedures and appointments, ensuring thorough and complete information is obtained. Facilitates the scheduling and registration process, and optimizes efficiencies and workflows. Scheduler II will routinely interact with various internal departments including registration, admitting, diagnostics, radiology, inpatient units, and financial coordinators. Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills are required. Must demonstrate the ability to meet and exceed customer expectations per established department specific protocols. Works as a liaison between family, insurance carrier, physician office, and clinical professionals to assure scheduling occurs in a highly accurate and timely manner. Assists with covering for the front office as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1 year scheduling and registration experience in a healthcare setting using a computerized scheduling system OR 2 years of front office experience OR 1 year experience in a high volume call center in customer service related industry

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Working knowledge of computer software, ie Microsoft products.

  • Ability to pleasantly handle interruptions in work-tasks due to greeting people & answering a multiple phone lines.

  • Excellent organizational skills, critical thinking skills, judgment, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously.

  • Knowledge of Government and Commercial insurance systems.

Preferred/Desired:

  • Experience coordinating and scheduling complex procedures; Experience coordinating patient care with multiple departments

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree

  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.

  • Basic Life Support

He/She demonstrates critical thinking skills and performance ability in the coordination of patient care and consistently performs according to the standards of the profession. He/She follows physician orders and assumes ultimate responsibility and accountability in managing his/her patients of his/her unit. He/She may handle human blood and other potentially infectious and/or hazardous materials, which may result in possible exposure to blood borne pathogens and/or harmful elements. This position has the responsibility for the assessment, treatment and care of the patients in the following age group: neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. The Registered Nurse reports to the Charge Nurse/Nursing Director. QUALIFICATIONS: Current California Registered Nurse License required. Current BLS required (within 30 days of employment). Current ACLS and PALS required (within 90 days of employment). Current CPI required (within 90 days of employment). Prior experience in related field (Critical Care, Telemetry or Emergency Department) is preferred. Has full command (verbal and written) of the English language. Possesses the physical abilities, including heavy lifting, and perceptive acuity, e.g., visual, hearing, to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions.
