Job Summary: The primary responsibility of the scale person is to weigh trucks on the scales, enter the correct billing information in the computer and print a ticket for the driver.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
Know the products and product codes of all materials.
Weigh trucks at scales and print a ticket for each truck weighed,
Complete cash on delivery (COD) transactions at the scales, running credit card for approvals.
Balance COD transactions and turn into dispatch.
Inform supervisor of large volume jobs.
Open and close scale houses.
Maintain insurable driving record.
Keep scale house organized and clean and always ensure a safe and healthful work environment.
If assigned:
Safely drop hot asphalt into trucks.
Keep track of asphalt job tonnage.
Inform asphalt manager of any issues with asphalt.
Education and/or Experience:
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Sitting: 90% of the time.
Standing: 10% of the time.
Wight lifted: Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Physical Movement: May frequently be reaching, grabbing, and holding objects.
Speaking / Listening: Needs to be able to communicate effectively with customers, supervision, drivers, and follow instructions, and understand safety requirements. Have decent penmanship as tickets may need to be handwritten during outages.
Working Conditions: Most of the time is spent in an air-conditioned office environment. Must be able to work long and irregular hours (early and late) during the busy season. Sometimes exposed to dusty environments. Night shifts during the busy season (April- October)
Traveling anywhere from Morgan, Mona, Tooele when needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Public relations and communication skills
Basic knowledge of construction industry
Good organizational skills
Ability to resolve customer complaints regarding drivers and materials.
Basic math skills
Basic spelling skills
Ability to work under pressure
Keyboard and 10 key skills helpful
