General Description:

Scaffold builders are responsible for designing, building and taking down of various types of scaffolding using various types of scaffolding systems or materials. Must be well versed in safe work practices while working with scaffolding in operating production units.

  • Ensure a safe work environment.

  • Participate in Peak's safety programs by staying up to date with the online training modules in Virtual Training Assistant (VTA). Review and comply with the various Client's safety programs.

  • Design, build, and take down various types of scaffolding using various types of scaffolding systems or materials.

  • Your responsibility includes representing the Company in a professional manner at all times.

  • Uses fall protection equipment

  • Use proper methods of storing, handling and inspecting scaffolding materials

  • Use, identify and explain the basic guidelines for planning, erecting, and using scaffolding.

  • Use and maintenance of trade hand tools, power tools, commonly-used lifting tools.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable on the types of loads on scaffold platforms, and is able to calculate loads on scaffold platforms.

  • Ability to calculate wind loads on specified scaffold configurations.

  • Knowledgeable of the safety considerations and components of suspension scaffolding.

  • Understands the applications and safe operation of scissors lifts and boom lifts. Knowledgeable on Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulations that regulate the scaffolding industry.

  • Must be well versed in safe work practices while working with scaffolding in operating production units.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and severe outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles in a mechanical shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection and the use of safety eyewear is required in most working situations.

Education Required Education:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Experience Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in the oilfield.

Special Requirements/Certifications Required Certifications and Licenses:

  • A current Cook Inlet Training Standard (CITS) health & safety card OR the combination of an OSHA 10 hour and 24 hour Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) training.
  • TWIC card required.

Preferred Certifications and Licenses:

  • Valid current driver's license is preferred.

Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.

HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.

VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.

LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 70 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 70 pounds for 20 feet.

RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE

The following items are expected to be completed on a regular basis to fulfill the requirements of the above mentioned position: * Building and breaking down scaffolds * Cleaning and preparing construction sites, including removing debris and dangerous materials. * Unloading the scaffolding materials from a truck. These materials typically include the rails, planks and ladders for the scaffold. * Scaffold builders properly inspect all materials prior to erecting or dismantling scaffolds. * Strong safety awareness for power lines and other potentially dangerous conditions Education • High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience Minimal Qualifications Required: * Minimum age 18 years old * Valid Drivers License• High School Diploma or GED equivalent * 1-2 years of CUI/Scaffold experience or certification in Scaffold Building from an accredited training program * Obtain Abatement certification within 90 days of employment• Obtain 24 hour HAZWOPR certification Qualifications Preferred: * Certification in Scaffold Building from an accredited Trade School * Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry• Scaffold Training Institute (STI) Card Experience in the oil & gas industry Special Requirements/Certifications N/A Physical Requirements Physical and technical requirements that meet the standards of CCI Industrial Services: Lifting up to 40 lbs., pushing and pulling up to 70 lbs., carrying up to 35 lbs., shoveling up to 20 lbs., frequent walking and standing, occasional keyboard use, sitting, bending, twisting and reaching.
