  • contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA's Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA's nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.

Position is for a Drafter III, on a full time basis, to provide drafting support primarily to the T4 Southern Region engineering group supporting the Parsons/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) T4 Program in the Southern Region, based out of Atlanta, GA. The drafter will work at a workstation located within the Parsons T4 Southern Region office. It will aso be required that the drafter coordinate work with the Parsons T4 drafting staff co-located in the FAA Regional Office in Atlanta, GA. Position will be supervised by Parsons T4 drafting supervisor, who is also located within the Parsons T4 Southern region office. Emphasis will be placed on supporting NAVAIDs, Terminal, Communications, and Enroute projects.

Prepares various drawings of such units as construction projects or parts and assemblies, including various views, sectional profiles, irregular or reverse curves, hidden lines, and small or intricate details. Work requires use of most of the conventional drafting techniques and a working knowledge of the terms and procedures of the occupation, makes arithmetic computations using standard formulas. Familiar or recurring work is assigned in general terms. Unfamiliar assignments include information on methods, procedures, sources of information, and precedents to follow. Simple revisions to existing drawings may be assigned with a verbal explanation of the desired results. More complex revisions are produced from sketches or specifications which clearly depict the desired product.

Typical assignments include:

  • From a layout and manual references, prepares several views of a simple rack system. Obtains dimensions and tolerances from manuals and by measuring the layout.

  • Prepares and revises detail and design drawings for diverse engineering groups such as Architectural, Civil, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics projects. Such as the construction and installation of electrical or electronic equipment, Navaids facilities, civil site work. Drawings typically include details of mountings, frames, guards, or other accessories; conduit layouts; or wiring diagrams indicating transformer sizes, conduit locations and mountings.

  • Draws base and elevation views, sections, and details of new Air Traffic Control Towers, Base Buildings, Data Centers, or other structures; revises complete sets of roadway drawings for highway construction projects; or prepares block maps, indicating utility line locations.

  • Revises and updates existing BIM models per new design and as-built information, develops new BIM models with the information provided by discipline engineers, generates construction drawings from BIM models.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma is required.

  • Must be computer savvy and a fast learner.

  • 5 plus years of Computer Aided Drafting experience, 3 plus years of BIM experience, data center design experience, knowledge of ProjectWise (a suite of software aimed at helping "manage, find, and share CAD and geospatial content, project data, and Office documents), and Microstation (a CAD software product for 2- and 3-dimensional design and drafting) are required.

  • Good oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, are prerequisites.

  • Must be trustworthy and competent.

  • Must be able to meet customer security requirements.

  • A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed.
