JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior SCADA / MES Software Engineer is responsible for developing digital manufacturing applications that are a key to the success of the JLG Business and Operational Technology practice.
This individual must support project implementations and technical product management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Plan, design, configure, and deploy HMI/SCADA/MES applications
Engage in automation controls discussions/design reviews/PFMEAs with plants and 3rd Party vendors
Configure and modify existing systems, as required
Plan the deployment of devices, computers, and instruments that are a part of SCADA/MES ecosystem
Collaborate with internal/external personnel in the design of database schemas integrating to PLCs/SCADA/MES with other systems
Support the development of functional specifications, test cases, and design documentation
Perform maintenance on shop floor software/hardware systems including software/firmware upgrades
Support the development of controls standards for enterprise
Collaborate with Maintenance departments and other staff on troubleshooting/communication/ integration issues on PLCs, SCADA and MES
Analyze system performance and suggest or make improvements, where applicable
Assist with the configuration and troubleshooting of wireless networks used for SCADA systems
Oversees protection of SCADA/MES environment and ensures data security and integrity by helping establish operational guidelines including privacy, security, editing, validating and restart/recovery controls
Develop and modify HMI/SCADA Systems, including 2D and 3D graphics creation, Tag Database generation, report development, computer setup and configuration, startup services including field setup and checkout, troubleshoot and operator training
Assist in the deployment of technology other than SCADA/MES will also be expected
Works with ticket system on break/fix incidents
Provide mentorship for MES/SCADA team members
Collaborate and support best practices working with the corporate enterprise architecture and JLG digital manufacturing teams
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
3-5 years of experience as a SCADA Engineer, MES Engineer, Process Control Engineer, Automation Engineer, Controls Engineer, or other similarly related duties
HMI/SCADA experience installing, programming, and troubleshooting PLC technology
Working knowledge of Rockwell, MTConnect, OPC-UA, and MQTT protocols
Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, Jython, C, C+, C++, Visual Basic, SQL. etc.
Must be proficient with Windows Servers
Ability to travel up to 15%.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with &/or Understanding of the following:
Utilizing integrations (REST, SOAP, XML-RPC, JSON-RPC APIs, Web Services) and how to produce/consume data from various systems
Working on enterprise scale Digital Transformation/Industry 4.0 initiatives
Understands OEE concepts and able to apply into an MES platform
Working knowledge of Track and Trace technologies and able to apply the concepts into an MES platform
Understands the concepts of ERP systems as it pertains to work orders, routings, etc.
Understands the concepts of Production scheduling
Complex Enterprise/Site deployments of SCADA/MES applications
Implementation of IIoT systems
Working with Agile development methodologies
Working in discreet manufacturing processes (Fab, Assembly) in heavy equipment manufacturing
Managing code repositories (IE. Github)
Very good verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
Persuasive and articulate, with the ability to communicate both diplomatically and assertively
