The Patient Cost Estimation Supervisor is responsible for the management of estimate staff and price transparency initiatives related to the development of estimate templates and the implementation of other EMR system changes necessary to enable Bayhealth to provide accurate patient estimates. Analyzes procedure and payer data to increase estimate offerings and improve automation. Compiles performance reports documenting the accuracy of estimates provided by service line. Experience managing to deadlines is essential. The position requires a detailed understanding of all Price Transparency initiatives and subsequent pricing challenges facing the Bayhealth organization in a complex health care environment. Candidate will have extensive knowledge of the revenue cycle processes in a hospital and physician office setting, charge master, patient benefit design, and an ability to communicate information surrounding price estimates by service.

Minimum Education and Experience:




High School Diploma

Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance


Five years' experience in financial counseling, patient accounting or other financial industry role whereby contracted pricing data was analyzed.

Working knowledge of hospital and/or physician coding rules

Demonstrated analytical experience

Five or more years of Financial Counseling, Patient Access or Revenue Cycle

Computer/Software Knowledge:

Intermediate computer literacy and calculator experience. Experience in Microsoft Excel.

EPIC Hospital Billing (HB) and/or Physician Billing (PB) certification


Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR)

  • Strong analytical skills required; excellent math skill; ability to calculate fractions, decimals and percentages

  • Demonstrates an in depth understanding of pricing terms, including managed care processes, enrollment, and benefit design.

  • Ability to interpret Payor Networks and how patient out of pocket costs fluctuate based on employer benefit plan limitations.

  • Must possess strong understanding of the local and national managed care environment, including, but not limited to, managed care policies and procedures, reimbursements mechanisms, and medical office procedures.

  • Strong interpersonal skills. Must be organized and detail-oriented.

  • Experience with Medical Billing and Reimbursement preferred. Experience in a healthcare setting in a customer facing environment, preferred.

  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft Excel; demonstrated competency in Excel test

  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; must demonstrate ability to articulate information in a clear and informative manner.

  • Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels

  • Ability to multitask and use multiple windows/programs at one time.

VIEW JOBS 11/29/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-27T00:00 Job Details High School/GED SBO Cash Management Analyst & Trainer General Summary This position is accountable for oversight of daily cash management deposits and posting for Bayhealth Medical Center, Bayhealth Medical Group and Medical Alternative Care to ensure all payments are posted within cash posting guidelines. Researches, obtains missing information as needed and communicates to cash technicians to complete posting batches. Provide technical and functional application analysis, defines system requirements as appropriate in the evaluation of current system and manual processes. Provides recommendations to enhance performance, improve financial controls and create efficiencies. Trains cash application new hires and develops training materials and job aides to support accurate performance of job functions. Supports the internal and external audit processes. Essential Functions & Accountabilities 1. Monitors and ensures cash control groups are fully posted within cash posting guidelines or the appropriate follow up has been taken to ensure timely posting to reduce the accounts receivable, promote efficient follow up to ensure patient satisfaction. 2. Provides support and assistance to cash application technicians and Single Billing Office (SBO) staff. 3. Provides training to cash application technicians on multiple cash application systems and cash application processes to perform their job function. Provides training summary and assessment to respective management team member for new hires and ongoing training evaluations. 4. Assures operational and technical training materials and department policies and procedures are updated as necessary. Develops training material and tip sheets for cash application related processes. 5. Collaborates with external financial partners, insurance companies, IT and Finance to resolve payment-related issues, general ledger balancing discrepancies and system-related issues. 6. Serves as the escalation point for research and resolution of customer and interdepartmental inquires and account discrepancies while maintaining excellent customer service. Ensures timely and accurate resolution to customer inquiries. 7. Provides recommendations to management to improve efficiencies related to EPIC payment processing activities, work queues and reconciliation reports. Assists with implementing best practices in cash posting and cash discrepancy follow-up and customer service activities. 8. Identifies controls and reviews cash processes to ensure system actions and procedures are performed correctly and posting activities tie to deposits in the bank. 9. Cash posting SME (Subject Matter Expert) that performs at a high productivity level while maintaining excellent quality performance. 10. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities. Minimum Education and Experience Minimum Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED Associates Degree Experience: Five years banking, bookkeeping or hospital and physician payment processing experience. Understands provider level adjustment transactions on electronic remittance files. Seven years' experience with payers, hospital and physician providers. Computer/Software Knowledge: Intermediate computer literacy and calculator experience. Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. 10 key touch skills. Experience with EPIC Cash Management and cash posting. Licensure/Certification None HB and/or PB EPIC certification.
