SUMMARY

This position will provide support to internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the servicing of the First Interstate Bank 7(a) SBA portfolio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyzes servicing requests to verify compliance with the SBA Terms and Conditions Agreement, SOP's and bank credit policy while adhering to critical timelines.

  • Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze complex requests and communicate appropriate solutions to bank partners.

  • Monitors departmental inboxes to serve as point of contact for all servicing and liquidation related inquiries.

  • Order 3rd party reports including but not limited to preliminary title reports, flood determinations, UCC searches, real estate evaluations, etc. as needed for servicing requests.

  • Assist with the monitoring of past due loan reports and communicate as appropriate with field to determine whether additional action is needed.

  • Collaborate with Special Asset Group and Collections Department to complete purchase packages and assist with charge off requests.

  • Ensures consistent, timely and accurate resolution to client requests and post-close documentation needs.

  • Completes post-closing file reviews to confirm receipt of outstanding items, collateral perfection, and all eligibility and approval conditions have been met.

  • Maintains current knowledge of changing SBA requirements via SBA communications, notices, SOPs 50 10 and 50 57.

  • Ensures compliance to applicable regulations and keeps up-to-date with changes in federal regulations and FIB credit policy requirements.

  • Maintain effective and cooperative relationship with underwriting and loan closing teams to stay abreast of current procedures that may impact the loan servicing process.

  • Complete file reviews on troubled loans to identify and communicate documentation risks and potential areas of concern regarding the validity of the guaranty.

  • Collaborate with Specialty Loans group to ensure accurate and timely 1502 reporting.

  • Compiles appropriate documentation and tracks receipt of trailing documents to ensure requests are completed in a timely manner.

  • Perform quality control reviews on older files and report issues to management.

  • Creates systems and processes for accurate record keeping and tracking of servicing requests to ensure compliance and resolution.

  • Continually evaluates workflow and processes for opportunities to increase efficiency and service.

  • Provide assistance as needed during internal and external audits of the SBA portfolio.

  • May be asked to assist with multi-disbursement draw requests on loans as needed.

  • Assist with Secondary Market related activities as applicable.

  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned to support the operations of the department.

Underwriting tasks:

  • Possesses proficiency relative to credit transactions and analytical skills sufficient to enable independent underwriting of servicing requests for streamlined to moderate complexity requests with moderate guidance from credit analyst and underwriting team.

  • Analyzes incoming servicing requests and authors a comprehensive report of analysis using a mix of data analysis (charts, formulas, graphs, etc.) and written narrative.

  • Read, review, and understand various financial statements to include but not limited to; tax returns, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, agings, borrowing base certificates, debt schedules, equipment lists, credit bureau reports, and rent rolls.

  • Prepares financial spreads for various types of commercial and real estate businesses and individuals acting as direct obligation borrowers or guarantors.

  • Completes financial performance metric covenant testing utilizing prepared financial spreads.

  • Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to identify areas of credit risk.

  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as an attention to detail.

  • Must have the ability to prioritize and work with others in an integrated way to achieve individual objectives and team results with flexibility to adapt to changing volumes, requirements, and areas of focus.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and be able to recognize and communicate when additional assistance is needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six month to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with financial spread software. Ability to acclimate quickly to other programs. Previous experience with SBA specific software and websites, such as Capital Access Financials Systems (CAFS) preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, sit, and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

We offer a competitive total compensation package including base salary and benefits. The anticipated pay range for this position is $29.24 to $41.78 per hour in WA and depends on a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, education, and geographic location. Benefits include, but are not limited to, medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability benefits and life insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings account, employee assistance program, 401(k), Paid Time Off (new hires accrue at .069 per hours worked which equates to approximately 18 days per year inclusive of paid sick time) and up to 11 paid Federal holidays.
