Perform SBIRS CLS Operations Satellite System Engineer (SSE) duties.

The SSEs assist the Air Force operators in all spacecraft bus and payload operations by planning and scheduling mission critical events, assisting in the generation and maintenance of command plans, technical advice and assistance during anomaly resolution activities, documenting and trending system performance and providing recommendations for optimal system operational methods and techniques.

They assist the Air Force operators during spacecraft commanding, ensuring proper execution of command plans, scheduling constellation and ground system activities, participating in anomaly resolution activities, launch and early orbit activities, and documenting system performance. The SSEs monitor the SBIRS satellite constellation health and performance by evaluating telemetry alarms and warnings, monitoring commanding and responding to satellite anomalies when required.

Also, local travel to MCSB to perform these operations support duties as required (estimated 2 weeks per year per).

Support the facilitation of communications between the operations and engineering groups on system status and operational issues.

Assist in the preparation and implementation of FOS operations product development and test and verification implementation plans.

Provide inputs to the collection and reporting of applicable metrics for status briefings to Managers.

Requires satellite and mission operations, integration, and/or systems engineering experience. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are required.

Position/work location is at Aurora Colorado, occasional travel and shift work is required.

Basic Qualifications:

Acceptable degree programs (major or minor) include science and technology related disciplines such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security or related discipline.

Experience as a Systems Engineer in satellite systems can be accepted in lieu of a STEM degree.

Strong communication and team motivation skills.

Ability to lead a diverse team in a technical environment.

Desired Skills:

Previous experience with Launch Readiness/Rehearsal planning and execution preferred.

Previous experience demonstrating a proficiency and knowledge in SBIRS spacecraft bus and payload commanding and operations.

Demonstrated ability to rapidly resolve critical/complex technical or operational problems, and/or space system anomalies.

Proficiency in one of the related: C, C++, C#, Java, XML, Windows, .NET, and UNIX, system software and scripting development, Java programming, web development, System analysis, System design, Software Design, Software Development and Implementation, Software Test or Cyber Security.

What You'll get to Do: Northrop Grumman Mission Systems' NEW MOON program is seeking a dynamic self-starter to join a team of software/systems integrators to continuously integrate software system baselines and prepare them for systems testing and deployment. The successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration with other program organizations. This is a highly challenging opportunity requiring flexibility and commitment. Candidates will need to be broad in their skills, adaptable to a changing environment, and deliver tasks within budget and schedule. Candidates must have the ability to excel in a diverse government/multi-contractor environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Short and long term integration planning and execution of multiple concurrent baselines. This include integrating subsystem functionality into system capabilities per design with an emphasis on system stability and performance * Participating in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers/SETAs and contributing to a broad range of program deliverable. * Articulating product acceptance standards and streamlining integration in support of the overall enterprise vision * Responding to various requests from program management for technical information and assisting in resolution of technical issues * Developing test plans and procedures and conducting software systems test as may be required.
