REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR, Groundwork for Success
LOCATION: Transit Tech Career and Technical Education High School, 1 Wells Street Brooklyn, NY 11208
HOURS: 2 Hours/Week, Non-Exempt After-school hours. 10 weeks. Start date preferably the first week of September and finishing around December 1st.
JOB SUMMARY: The SAT Instructor will work with The College Preparation and Leadership Program located within the Groundwork for Success program, which is a division of Good Shepherd Services, to assist program participants (Juniors and Seniors) of varying academic levels in either Math or English preparation for the SAT exam on December 1, 2018.
Provide individual and group instruction in the Math or English components of SAT test.
Provide study techniques and assignments that can be completed by scholars between sessions.
Identify problem areas and implement approaches and/ or seek advisement when necessary.
Communicate and coordinate with staff and program leadership regarding progress.
Some One-on-one and small group tutoring are also a part of the role.
Periodic assessments of scholars' progress reported to program director and Success Coaches.
Limited additional hours will be expected as needed in preparation for November SAT exam.
BA degree preferred, with experience working with adolescents.
SAT Instruction or Tutoring experience required.
Excellent classroom management and engagement skills required.
Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and/or youth development perspective.
