A sandblaster abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt using abrasive-blasting equipment.
1.Prepares tanks for painting by cleaning surface area with cleaning solvents and masks specific surface areas not to be painted or sandblasted.
2.. Assembles tires to tanks after painting is completed using electrical and pneumatic shop tools.
3.Inventories paint supplies regularly and requisitions paint supplies as needed.
4.Loads parts on rack or hangers to be painted or blasted.
5.Disassembles paint and sandblasting equipment and cleans equipment.
6.Completes assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices. This includes regard to individual safety, the safety of other team members, and the safe use of equipment in the workplace.
7.Wears approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, protective clothing, respirators, etc.
1.Performs additional work as assigned by the department supervisor.
1.Three (3) months to one (1) year experience in sandblasting or wet spray painting.
2.Ability to follow and understand written and oral instructions.
3.Ability to read and set pressure gauges for spray painting and blasting equipment.
4.Knowledge of paints, paint supplies, and equipment.
5.Ability to perform simple math such as adding subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
6.Ability to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds and/or lift and move heavy objects weighing more than fifty (50) pounds with the assistance of another employee.
7.Possess knowledge of general shop rules, practices, and safety precautions.
8.Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a production team.
Full air hood; supplied air
May be required to wear or full face respirator.
