Job Description

Responsible for tracking all incoming and outgoing samples into and out of the laboratory and maintaining proper documentation. Determines the priority level and appropriate testing procedures of samples according to Chain of Custody (COC). Labels samples and routes to appropriate department, laboratory or storage area in a timely manner. Prepares bottle kits to be delivered to clients to gather samples to be returned for analysis. Responsible for maintenance of shipping/receiving area and proper disposal of samples after analysis is completed. Schedules sample delivery and pick-up daily in order to plan and prioritize workload.

  • Receives and unpacks samples daily in accordance with DOT requirements to verify accuracy of receipt against COC, matches it to the corresponding quote and notes discrepancies daily.

  • Writes an anomaly for shipping discrepancies and forwards to the Project Manager so that the client may be notified.

  • Log samples into LIMS daily to assign a lot number for tracking purposes and distributes paperwork to Project Managers and Department Managers.

  • Labels samples to correspond with lot number and places them in the proper storage area to maintain sample integrity daily.

  • Notifies Project Manager and Department Managers when samples are received that have short hold times or a quick turnaround time so that workload can be prioritized.

  • Assists Laboratory Technicians/Analysts in locating samples or delivers samples to appropriate lab daily to improve productivity and ensure that sample hold times will not be exceeded.

  • Schedules couriers and informs drivers daily of their scheduled delivery and pick-up times.

  • Some courier / delivery and pick up duties included.

  • Monitors temperatures of freezers and coolers daily to ensure samples are stored according to SOP's.

  • Assists the Sample Control Supervisor in overseeing the job duties of Sample Control Technicians and delivery drivers to ensure responsibilities are performed according to SOP's.

  • Maintains Sample Receiving area as well as equipment and vehicles to promote a clean, safe work environment and allow smoother flow of daily operations.

  • Ships empty coolers back to clients and other Eurofins Environment Testing labs. Logs all outgoing coolers in order to maintain a detailed inventory of all coolers.

  • Restocks all supplies daily and orders supplies as needed to ensure adequate supply of necessary materials at all times.

  • Assists the Project Manager in answering incoming sample control-related phone calls to respond to client's questions and resolve issues as needed.

  • Ships all subcontracted samples to designated laboratories as needed.

  • Maintains all company vehicles for pickup and delivery as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-2 years laboratory or shipping and receiving experience preferred.

  • Department of Transportation (DOT) Certificate maybe required for shipping hazardous chemicals within 90 days of date of hire.

  • Valid state issued driver's license to drive delivery vehicles and clean driving record.

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 11:00am - 7:30pm with overtime as needed.

The compensation range for this position is $18- $22 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

This position is required to be onsite. It is not a remote position.

Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes, the actual base compensation may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill set, base compensation of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
