Minimum age of 18 years and must possess a valid Class "C" driver's license. High School Diploma or GED required. Must be able to work the part time duty hours of the Arts and Science Center.

Major Duties

A person in this position will work directly for the Hickory Police Department, assigned to the Arts and Science Center of Catawba County as an unarmed uniformed security aide. The security aide will assist the staff at Arts and Science Center with unlocking and securing the building.

Conducting periodic security checks of the interior and exterior of the building to ensure the safety and security of personnel and property. Make reports to the proper authority if a situation arises. Maintain radio communications with the Hickory Police Department Communications Center. File all necessary reports when required by the Hickory Police Department or the Arts and Science Center.

This person must communicate with the general public in a face-to-face setting in order to give directions and answer inquiries. Communicates internally with other employees face-to-face, by telephone, or by portable radio in order to receive instructions and information regarding daily duties.

Supplemental Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is primarily performed while standing and walking. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.

SAFETY SENSITIVE: This position has been identified as safety-sensitive.

The employee in this position will be part of a random drug testing pool. The methodology for choosing the random test subjects is handled by an outside, impartial, third party vendor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed inside and outside where the employee may be exposed to cold or inclement weather.
