This position serves as the Salesforce Senior Developer who will work closely with functional leaders and experts to identify business and technical requirements, translating these into optimized Salesforce solutions; oversee complex application design, configuration, testing, and deployment, including custom development and integrations. In this role you will lead software testing efforts, providing technical support for advanced issues, and ensure best practices in operational support and enhancements on the Salesforce.com platform. Essential Functions

35% Under administrative direction, serves as the Salesforce Senior Developer for the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT):

  • Performs complex professional and advisory Salesforce Development functions.

  • Works closely with functional leaders, organizational units, and subject matter experts to determine and advise on business, functional, and technical requirements and processes.

  • Translates business requirements into solutions that best leverage, support, and maintain the Salesforce platform and various integrations.

  • Performs complex application design, configuration, testing and deployment functions.

  • Leads the testing of software development efforts including coding, configuration, maintenance, installation, testing, and debugging, as well as managing timelines and producing technical documentation.

  • Designs, develops, implements, and maintains the complex workflow rules, validation rules, and custom workflows.

  • Provides technical assistance and end user troubleshooting for the more complex bug fixes, enhancements, and "how-to" assistance.

  • Utilizes best practices to perform operational support, maintenance, enhancements, and bug fixes as needed to the Salesforce.com platform.

  • Develops end-to-end Salesforce solutions including custom platform development (APEX, Triggers, Lightning Web Components, Visualforce) and external data integration (middleware tools, Salesforce APIs).

  • Performs high level data management tasks such as creating Salesforce data structures and relationships, integrations with external systems, data validations, migrations, transformation, security, extracts, and data loads.

  • Utilizes agile System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies in the performance of duties.

30% Serves as a Project Lead for complex large-scale requests:

  • Performs project lead duties including request review, project documentation, project planning, assigning work tasks to project team members, and monitoring complex and time-sensitive schedules.

  • Acts as a salesforce expert - providing salesforce technical advice, design direction, and leadership to all team members to advance the project.

  • Analyzes complex project issues and develops solutions.

  • Monitors and reviews daily schedules to ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time.

  • Develops status reports for management.

  • Assists in the estimation of work effort, determination of required resources, and schedule development.

  • Participates in peer code reviews and unit testing.

  • Provides application support by analyzing defects, replicating/fixing defects, and providing root cause analysis for defects.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves functional and performance-related issues.

  • Supports post deployment activities including knowledge transfer, process documentation, and application bug fixes.

20% Serves as designated lead worker:

  • Assigns and reviews work.

  • Provides guidance and training to assigned staff.

  • Advises immediate supervisor regarding performance of staff.

10% Keeps abreast of new developments in the IT field:

  • Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.

  • Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.

5% Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.

  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience in application services or a related Information Technology field.

Specialized Skills

  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience supporting and maintaining a Salesforce platform, including application development.

  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience utilizing Salesforce.com best practices and functionality.

  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience in data management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of professional experience supporting and maintaining the Salesforce platform, including application development.

  • Three (3) years of professional experience utilizing Salesforce.com best practices and functionality.

  • Three (3) years of professional experience in data management.

  • Ability to design and implement new processes and facilitate user adoption.

  • Ability to analyze data logically and exercise sound judgment in defining and evaluating problems of an operational or procedural nature.

  • Ability to establish and maintain customer relationships, including analyzing and resolving customer issues.

  • Extensive knowledge of agile System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.

  • Developed verbal and written communication skills to present technical information to others with clarity and precision.

  • Certification in Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Salesforce.com Admin (ADM201 and ADM211) or Developer.
