We are currently seeking an experienced Sales Support / Inventory Control Clerk for our Ophthalmic Instrument Division located in St. Paul, MN. This is an excellent opportunity to join our TEAMWe are a multi-line distributor of the finest ophthalmic instrumentation in the industry!

Job Summary

Manage purchasing and inventory activities on products for resale at the optimal price and delivery cycle, while maintaining inventory levels. This position also receives requests for quotations on instrument & stock orders. Answers department phones, makes quotations on standard items, writes/prepares for order entry, and relays pertinent information to customers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Implements purchasing and inventory control procedures for stock product.

  • Analyzes stock levels, delivery of product, and orders product via PO Generator in

  • JD Edwards.

  • Performs monthly cycle counts of inventory to ensure accuracy.

  • Deals with suppliers when serious variations arise in delivery, quality, price or conditions of sale.

  • Prepares verbal and written quotations on instruments and accessories and recommends options and alternative instrumentation to customers.

  • Receives requests for price quotations, orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly from customers. Achieves and maintains rapport with customers and works to give them the best possible service.

  • Enter customer sales orders, purchase orders for buying equipment from customers, retrieve customer information, stock status information, the status of orders, and to make changes on customer purchase orders. Ensures that correct codes are used for retrieving and inputting information.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent

  • 4 years of relevant work experience of customer service/inventory management

  • Pervious background should include optical knowledge

  • PC skills, Microsoft Office and integrated software system experience (preferably JD Edwards)

  • Accurate data entry skills

  • Must be organized and detail oriented.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision.
