Job Purpose

The Sales Planner is primarily responsible for the development of strategic sales proposals that meet both the advertiser and network's needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Proposal Creation:

  • Liaison with partners to ensure that all contractual obligations are met

  • Coordinate with CFS group to establish credit clearance process and non-media billing procedures when applicable

  • Lead in the creation of proposals for incoming RFPs by creating media plans to meet advertiser and category objectives

  • Address client needs while highlighting our value and capabilities

  • Build media plans and schedule units based on inventory avails

  • Prepare and revise Upfront and Scatter sales plans that maximize the use of inventory while fulfilling agency/client requirements

  • Collaborate and brainstorm with the team in the creation of proactive and strategic proposals

  • Ensure media plans include accurate pricing and utilize approved products and available inventory and adhere to defined business processes to ensure optimal program performance

  • Complete additional projects as directed by Strategic Planning and Ad Sales Finance Management

  • Assist in the coordination of sales marketing materials

Proposal Maintenance:

  • Work closely with Sales, Strategic Planning, and Commercial Ops to manage all preemptions and programming changes - recommend schedules according to availability, generate flow charts to reflect all changes, cancellation option and expansion options

  • Work closely with Inventory Managers to coordinate plan approvals

Client Service:

  • Develop strong understanding of our products and solutions for advertisers

  • Assist in the creation of effective go to market tools for the sales team

  • Establish relationships with agency and advertiser partners

  • Respond to Sales requests about inventory, ad products, creative specifications, and research

  • Liaise with Sales, Strategic Planning, Ad Sales Finance, Commercial Ops, and Marketing to ensure sold schedules run



  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 12 - 18 months related experience in media sales or buying

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV through to be considered

  • Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice

  • Must be willing to work in LA, California

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet research

  • Strong knowledge of media math and audience metrics

Responsibilities: * Work closely with the Sales Planning Manager to create and implement effective pre-sales RFP process and tools that drive revenue growth * Act as the Premion Salesforce CRM Administrator * Interact daily with Premion Direct sales team, national agency holding group buyers to develop and deliver advertising revenue proposals to clients. * Oversee RFP process on behalf of Premion working closely with and coordinating the resources of the field sales, technology, operations and content teams * Respond to requests for information and answer any questions as it relates to pre-sales process including pricing, volume, forecasts and capabilities * Work closely with marketing team to provide market feedback on the development of materials needed for stations to manage best in class sales processes * Communicate available materials, resources, tools and training to the field * Work closely with Premion leadership and finance team for approval of deals Job Requirements Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field * 3+ years pre-sales, sales assistant, media planning, and or account management experience * Understanding of complex request for proposal (RFP) processes and requirements * Broadcast/digital advertising, marketing, sales or agency experience preferred * Ability to handle multiple tasks and effectively solve problems * Exceptional organizational, project management, communication and interpersonal skills * Strong attention to detail * Mac and PC proficient especially for presentation and proposal development * Exceptional reputation and professional ethos * Proficient in Microsoft Office * Salesforce experience is preferred About PREMION: Premion, a division of TEGNA, is a first-in-market advertising services platform that offers local and regional advertisers access to premium long-form episodic content through one streamlined solution.
