About the role

This role is for a duration of 6 months.Purpose: The potash team is accountable for managing all Marketing accountabilities to support the development of a viable and material 5th pillar commodity option, to diversify and grow BHP's long-term portfolio. The Sales Operations sub function lead is accountable for managing the Marketing inputs into the future Jansen operation, focused on optimising product availability and flexibility, and the supply chain design and implementation (particularly in the US). The role also manages the day-to-day relationships with the Jansen and JOL project teams, and operational coordination of the potash team deliverables. In addition, the Sales Operations Lead will support the Sales Liaison Lead in engaging and developing customer relationships, particularly in the US. As part of a small team, the individual will likely have the opportunity to gain experience across the entire spectrum of Marketing functional activities. Accountabilities:

  • Demonstrates and instils an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

  • Adherence to all relevant external and internal performance standards, Group and Business Level requirements and statutory legislation, including completing Major Capital Project reports in line with Our Requirements

  • Manages and optimises relationships with internal key stakeholders, (future) customers, and suppliers.

  • As sub-function lead of Operations Planning, the roles core accountable is to development, design, and optimisation, the distribution solutions to secure a route to market for Jansen, particularly in the US, and manage the interface into the pre-point of delivery logistics (Jansen Outbound Logistics port and US rail movements). The role is also accountable for managing the Processing interface, to ensure product availability, and operational flexibility, optimisation between Marketing's requirements and project cost efficiency.

  • Maintain and develop operational processes and operational integration plans with Jansen and JOL project teams, and coordinate Potash Marketing's overall project planning (project scope, detailed work plan, resource management), controls (stakeholder engagement and reporting on progress) and evaluation (tracking of deliverables).

  • Support the Sales Liaison Lead in engaging and developing future customer relationships, particularly in the US

  • Manage and extracts full value from any potential joint venture arrangements

  • Support the Head of Marketing, Potash Projects, in other potash marketing activities related to Sales Liaison, Technical Marketing, Planning and Strategy, or Market Analysis, as required as part of a small multi-skilled team

About You


  • 10+ years' experience in Sales and Marketing in commodity markets

  • Marketing logistics and transactional experience in a global business

  • Expertise in development of new supply chains, and/or new markets and customers, products, brands and business opportunities

  • Strong leadership and delivery record

  • Project Management experience

  • Ideally experience in fertilizer sales, marketing, and/or logistics

  • Must be willing to travel up to 20%
