Sales & Operations Analyst

The opportunity:

Sales and Operations Analyst will support the Sales and Operations Planning Functions focusing on providing models and estimates based on sales goals and manufacturing budgets to the Corrugated Segment leadership team. This role works to create and publish the weekly Sales and Operations Planning report and reports and materials reviewed in daily Supply Chain operations meetings. The position performs analytic work involving the compilation and analysis of containerboard demand and supply forecasts to actual performance and inventory planning across all market segments (internal, domestic, export, trades and joint venture). This analyst will also perform special related analysis that will drive understanding of changes to the demand and supply model to help identify business actions that will drive improvements to the business plan. The role will need to work across multiple departments and various levels of the organization to complete their work. The work may be varied and can be somewhat difficult with challenging timelines.

How you will impact WestRock:

The primary responsibilities of the Sales and Operations Analyst position are:

  • Build Demand/Supply Model and related reporting

  • Generate forecasting estimates across all business segments and containerboard commodities

  • Inventory planning for all business segments for both normal operations and special events (i.e. outage planning, unplanned production interruptions and warehousing opening / closings

  • Build reports and facilitate daily Supply Chain Operations meetings (SCRUM)

  • Special analysis and projects to drive business improvement

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in one of the following: Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management

  • 1-2 years of experience conducting and performing data modeling, data mining exercises, reporting metrics, and producing reports to senior leadership

  • Experience / understanding of transportation and warehousing terminology, processes, and measures (i.e. dedicated fleets, common carrier truckload, intermodal, rail, LTL, cross docks, distribution centers etc.)

  • Superior Excel skills including ability to easily read and interpret data through data mining. Should be comfortable with Excel shortcuts and easily apply and use of advanced Excel functions including macros.

  • Ability to write and update existing queries, develop/import data from external sources, develop and generate other objects such as forms and reports.

  • Knowledge of SQL and OTM a plus

  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Access and PowerPoint

  • Experience with developing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operations and financial objectives

  • Possess the analytic skill required to analyze, manage, and work with large amounts of complex data

  • Attention to detail and ability to think "outside the box"

  • Ability to deal effectively with pressure, multiple tasks, deadlines and rapidly changing priorities

  • Good interpersonal skills to apply in communication with business partners, field operations and Sr. Leadership

  • Strong communication skills to inform and educate others on complex concepts and ideas, simply and concisely, to broad audiences verbally and via email or presentations

  • Drive change/continuous improvement

  • Self-Starter/highly motivated

  • Occasional weekend work required (financial reporting, system cutovers, testing etc.)
