Our Knoxville, TN global forwarding office is seeking a skilled Sales Manager to manage a dynamic sales team located in Knoxville and Nashville. This Manager will work closely with sales coordinators, branch management, branch employees and the broader C.H. Robinson network on deals. He/She will be responsible for driving the sales team in successfully prospecting, gaining new business, developing/retaining existing customers, managing an international lead program and updating completed activities in a customer retention system. The Sales Manager will be directly involved with department staffing, discipline, reviews, training and leadership in partnership with the local branch manager.
Actively involved in guiding and coaching the sales team in the sales process including:
Creating & performing formal presentations
Maintaining client follow up
Creating Standard Operating Procedures
Monitoring accounts receivable
Developing and maintaining relationships with key customers
Complete special projects as requested
Evaluate staffing needs, conduct interviews and hire new staff
Coordinate new hire orientation and training for team members
Develop and mentor team members on an on-going basis
Handle employee performance issues including evaluations, discipline and employment separation decisions
Oversee timekeeping procedures for assigned staff to ensure proper pay and time-off records are maintained
Demonstrate solid decision-making skills and ability to prioritize ever-changing daily tasks
Delegate tasks and project work within the team
Minimum 3 years of freight forwarding sales experience
Minimum 2 years direct people management experience
Experience using a customer retention system
Creativity in developing innovative solutions and ability to present solutions to clients & internal sales staff
Self-disciplined with strong leadership abilities
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Energetic and able to work independently
Highly organized and detail-oriented
High School Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's degree in a related field
